How Often Should I Exercise?
It is recommended that children get at least one hour of age-appropriate exercise EVERYDAY. Of these days at least three of those days should be focused on muscle and bone strengthening activities. Three days of the week should be aerobic exercises also. By doing about half of your activities at a high intensity level you are greatly increasing your health.
Children and adults have a big difference in the activities they should do for their exercise; so if you see one of your parents doing something, this does not mean you should try it. Some activities can be preformed together, such as walking or jogging, but not every form of exercise is suitable for a growing child.
The MyActivity Pyramid has a good idea of what should be done how often with good picture suggestions. This is a good guide and should be used that way also. Do what you can do without harming your body in the process.
