What Are Some Fun Ways to Keep Active?
There are lots of games out there that can help you stay active while also having a lot of fun. Many of these games are meant for groups so gather up some of your friends or maybe suggest it to your P.E. teacher sometime. A lot of games you know and love are great forms of easy exercise. Some of these would include games such as Duck-Duck-Goose, Simon Says, Cat and Mouse. Others that you may not be as familiar with include Wall-to-Wall, Rotten Egg, Crazy Legs, Obstacle Course, and Elbow Tag.
Wall-to-Wall
This game is really simple. Find a clear, open area, that has two walls or different objects. Line several people up and have one person yell "GO!" as loud as they can. When you reach the other side stop and wait for them to yell "GO!" again. Or to make it more interesting have one designated number to "go" on and have them count in different ways until they say that number. This time have someone different run. To make it more interesting try other ways of moving such as tip toeing, running with high knees, arms up, running in small circles across the area, swinging, twisting, zig-zagging, backwards, jumping, skipping, or hopping; be creative and just have fun.
Rotten Egg
This game is similar to tag but the opposite. One person is the "rotten egg" and everyone else playing tries to catch that person. The person who tags the "rotten egg" is now the "rotten egg" until tagged by someone else. Try playing with more than one person as the "egg" and try having different ways of catching them such as tagging them with your toe or only your pinky finger. Be creative and have fun! Or if you like to be boring, just play regular tag.
Crazy Legs
Gather a group and have everyone stand in a big circle holding out your arms straight to the side to make sure you have plenty of room. One person becomes "Crazy". This person kicks a ball around the outside of the circle until the decide to kick the ball into the circle, whoever the ball hits then becomes "Speedy". "Speedy" runs around the outside of the circle trying to catch "Crazy" until he/she gets back to the opening in the circle. While this is happening the rest of the circle tries to keep the ball moving and inside the circle so that "Crazy" does not get it back. This game is similar to "Duck-Duck-Goose" with a few twists.
Obstacle Course
With an adult's permission, create some obstacles with objects around you. Arrange them to make a course then time different people at separate times or at the same time to see who can do it the fastest without missing any of the obstacles. For example, if you are playing in an open area outside set up hula-hoops to jump through, cones or other objects to run around, boxes to climb through. Be extremely creative and you will definitely have a blast playing this game. Make it your game.
Make sure that when you are considering this you talk to adult first and you consider the safety of yourself and others as well as the objects you are using.

Elbow Tag
In this version of tag, there is one person who is "IT". All others are linked in pairs(2) at the elbow. When a third person links onto them making them incompatible. When this happens the person on the end(not the one who just joined) must run to a new partner before they are tagged. Repeat.
